Privacy & Security

What MiConvert for Dropbox can see, what happens to your files, and what we keep.

Your originals are never modified

MiConvert reads the file you selected and writes the converted result as a new file in your Dropbox. It never edits, moves, renames or deletes the original.

Files are processed temporarily and deleted

  • The selected file is copied from Dropbox to MiConvert's servers, converted, and the result is saved back to your Dropbox.
  • The temporary copy is deleted as soon as the conversion finishes. The converted output is kept for at most 4 hours so you can download it, then deleted automatically.
  • Nobody at MiConvert looks at your files. Conversion is fully automated.

What we store for your history

If you are signed in, each conversion adds one history entry: the file name, the source and target formats, the time, and the Dropbox file ID of the result so "Open file" works later. Nothing about the file's contents is stored. You can see this list under History.

How we use Dropbox data

Data received from Dropbox — your name, email address and the files you open with MiConvert — is used only to provide this feature. It is never sold, never used for advertising, never shared with third parties, and never used to train AI or machine-learning models.

Permissions, explained

Dropbox does not offer apps a permission limited to one file: an app that opens files from the Dropbox menu is granted access to your files and folders as a whole. MiConvert uses that access for exactly three things:

  • reading the file you opened with MiConvert;
  • writing the result next to it (and checking that its name is free);
  • showing which Dropbox account is connected.

It never lists, searches, browses or copies anything else, and keeps your access token only on its server, for at most 24 hours.

Ads

Converting a file you opened from Dropbox happens on MiConvert's ordinary converter pages (for example miconvert.com/en/stl-converter), which show ads from Google AdSense. Your Dropbox data is never used for advertising and never passed to advertisers: those pages identify your files only by a random, short-lived code, never by file ID, and the file list is loaded separately from the page itself. The Dropbox pages of MiConvert (this one, Settings, History, the viewer and the extract, zip and compress screens) show no ads.

Revoking access

  • Disconnect Dropbox in Settings ends the session in this browser.
  • To remove MiConvert from your Dropbox account entirely, open Dropbox's connected apps, choose MiConvert and disconnect it.
  • To delete your MiConvert account and its history, use the account page on miconvert.com or email us.
