隐私政策
1. Introduction
Welcome to MiConvert. We are committed to providing a safe, secure, and private browsing experience. This Privacy Policy outlines our strict commitment to user anonymity and explains why you can trust us.
2. Our Core Promise: Zero Data Collection
To ensure your absolute privacy, we operate under a strict "No-Logs" policy.
No Personal Information Stored
We do not require, collect, or store any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as your name, email address, phone number, or physical address.
No Activity Tracking
We do not track your search history, browsing habits, or IP address logs on our servers. Your digital footprint on our site remains your own.
Automatic File Deletion
All uploaded files and converted outputs are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers 1 hour after conversion. We do not inspect, copy, or retain your files.
3. Global Legal Compliance
Because MiConvert is available worldwide, we are committed to complying with applicable data protection laws across various jurisdictions:
GDPR (Europe) & UK GDPR
We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation by minimizing data collection to zero and ensuring that any technical data processing is lawful, fair, and transparent.
CCPA (California)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, we confirm that we do not sell or share any user data with third parties.
Vietnamese Law (Decree 13/2023/ND-CP)
We comply with the Decree on Personal Data Protection, ensuring that users have full rights and transparency regarding data processing.
4. Your User Rights
Even though we collect zero personal data, we respect your fundamental data rights. If any minimal technical data is ever collected, you have the Right to Access, Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten), and Right to Data Portability. 9. MiConvert Android App
Sections 2 to 5 describe the website. The MiConvert app for Android works differently, as described below.
Your Files
The app uploads only the files you choose to convert, or share to it from another app, and they are deleted from our servers on the same schedule as on the website. The app does not access your contacts, camera or microphone.
Account and Purchases
You can use the app without an account. If you sign in, we store your email address, your plan and your conversion history on our servers, and your session is kept in your device's secure storage. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address, your name and your profile picture; we use them only to create and identify your account. Paid plans are bought through Google Play, which handles the payment and the automatic renewals; we receive only the purchase confirmation and Google's updates on the subscription's status (renewed, cancelled, refunded), which decide whether your plan stays active. You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account), which deletes this data.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
Signed-out users and the free plan see ads from Google AdMob; paid plans see no ads. AdMob collects device information such as the advertising ID, IP address and how you interact with ads, to serve, measure and limit ads and to prevent fraud. In the EEA, the UK and US states with their own privacy laws, the app asks for your consent before showing personalised ads, and you can change that choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings.
Analytics and Crash Reports (Firebase)
The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how it is used: which screens are opened, each step of a conversion, how long it takes and where it fails. Firebase Crashlytics receives crash reports. Both collect these events together with device information such as an app-instance identifier, the device model, the operating system version and an approximate location derived from the IP address. They do not receive your files, their contents or your email address. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months and crash reports for up to 90 days.
Google as a Service Provider
Google Sign-In, Google Play Billing, AdMob, Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics are provided by Google and process this data under Google's Privacy Policy.
10. Google Drive and Dropbox
You can open files stored in Google Drive or Dropbox with MiConvert, from Drive's “Open with” menu or Dropbox's “Open” menu. Sections 2 to 5 describe the website used without an account; this integration works differently. This section explains what MiConvert receives from those services and what it does with it. The plain-English summaries are at miconvert.com/drive/privacy and miconvert.com/dropbox/privacy.
What MiConvert Can Access
Google Drive: MiConvert asks only for the drive.file and drive.install permissions and your basic profile (name, email address, profile picture). drive.file lets it open only the files you open with MiConvert or pick in its file chooser, and create new files. It cannot list, search or read anything else in your Drive. Dropbox: Dropbox does not offer apps a permission limited to one file, so an app that opens files from the Dropbox menu is granted access to your files and folders as a whole. MiConvert uses that access only to read the file you opened, to save the result next to it, and to show which Dropbox account is connected. It never lists, searches or copies anything else.
Your Files
The file you open is copied to our servers to do what you asked: convert, preview, extract, compress or zip it. The result is saved as a new file in your Drive or Dropbox. Your original is never edited, moved, renamed or deleted. The temporary copy is deleted when the job finishes, and results and previews are deleted from our servers within 4 hours. Processing is automatic. Nobody at MiConvert opens your files unless you ask us to while we help you, or the law requires it.
Access Tokens and Account Data
The access tokens Google or Dropbox give MiConvert are stored only on our servers, never in your browser, which holds only a random session cookie. A connection lasts at most 24 hours, after which you are asked to connect again. If you connect Google Drive, your name, email address and profile picture are used to create or recognise your MiConvert account. Connecting Dropbox does not create a MiConvert account; your Dropbox name and email address are used only to show which account is connected. If you are signed in to MiConvert, each conversion adds an entry to your history: the file name, the formats, the time and the ID of the result file, so that “Open file” works later. The contents of your files are never stored in your history.
How We Use Google User Data
Data received from Google APIs is used only to provide the features you use in MiConvert. It is not sold. It is not used for advertising, and it is not used to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models. It is not shared with third parties except to provide these features or where the law requires it. MiConvert's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data received from Dropbox is handled the same way.
Advertising
Some conversions you start from Drive or Dropbox run on MiConvert's ordinary converter pages, and those pages show ads from Google AdSense. Your Drive and Dropbox data is never used for advertising and is never passed to advertisers. Those pages identify your files only by a random, short-lived code, never by file ID, and the list of your files is loaded separately from the page itself. MiConvert's own Drive and Dropbox pages (settings, history, the viewer, and the extract, zip and compress screens) show no ads.
Disconnecting and Deletion
“Disconnect” in MiConvert's Drive or Dropbox settings deletes the access tokens from our servers. To remove MiConvert's access entirely, open Google Account → Third-party apps & services or Dropbox → Connected apps. To delete your MiConvert account and its history, use your account page or email [email protected].
11. MiConvert Browser Extensions
Sections 2 to 5 describe the website. The MiConvert browser extensions for Chrome, Edge and Firefox (“MiConvert” and “MiConvert PDF”) work differently: besides handing your file to the website, they can send us short technical reports so we can find and fix problems. This section explains exactly what they send, and how to turn it off.
Your Files
An extension fetches a file only when you ask it to convert one, using your browser's normal access to the site where the file is stored. It then hands the file to the matching miconvert.com page, which uploads it for conversion exactly as if you had dropped it there yourself; from then on the file is handled and deleted as described in section 2. While it waits to be handed over, the file stays in the extension's storage on your device for at most 15 minutes. When you open the extension's popup, it looks at the links on the current tab (and, for MiConvert PDF, whether the tab shows a PDF) to list the files it can work on; when a download finishes, it checks the file type to offer a conversion. Neither leaves your browser.
Automatic Error Reports
When something goes wrong (a file that cannot be fetched, a hand-over to the website that does not arrive, or an error in the extension's own code), the extension can send us a report containing: a short error code, which part of the extension it happened in, the error message and technical trace with every web address removed, the file formats involved (for example STEP to STL), the extension version, your browser and its version, your operating system, the language the extension opens miconvert.com in, and a random identifier created when the extension was installed. The same anonymous details, without an error, are sent once when the extension is installed or updated. Reports never contain your files, file names, the web address of a file or the pages you visit. The same error is sent at most once an hour, and at most 30 reports a day. In Chrome and Edge these reports are on by default and can be turned off on the extension's “Report a problem” page. In Firefox they are sent only if you allow technical data when you install the extension, or switch them on that page.
“Report a Problem”
If you use the extension's “Report a problem” page, we receive what you write and, only if you enter it, your email address, which we use only to reply to you. If you leave “Attach the technical details” ticked, the report also includes the details shown on that page before you send it: the extension version, your browser and operating system, the random install identifier and your most recent error codes. Nothing is sent until you press “Send report”.
When You Remove an Extension
When you remove an extension, your browser opens a page on miconvert.com with one optional question about why. Opening that page tells us that the extension was removed, with its version, your browser, your operating system and its language, plus the random install identifier if automatic error reports were on, so that we can tell whether a problem made people leave. Answering the question, adding a comment or leaving an email address is up to you.
How Reports Are Used and Kept
Reports are used only to find and fix problems and to see which extension versions are in use. They are not sold, not used for advertising and not used to identify you. With each report we keep the country your connection comes from; your IP address is used briefly to block abuse and is not stored with the report. Reports are kept for up to 400 days, then deleted automatically. So that we see them quickly, messages you write, survey comments and new kinds of error are also forwarded to our team's internal alert channel on Telegram. On your device, the extension keeps its settings, the random install identifier and its 20 most recent error codes; removing the extension deletes them. To have reports deleted, email [email protected].
