Archive & Compression Formats
ZIP opens natively in Windows, macOS and most Linux file managers; 7z is 7-Zip's open format with a higher compression ratio; RAR needs WinRAR or a compatible tool to create. TAR bundles files without compressing them at all, which is why it usually ships gzip-compressed as .tar.gz or .tgz.

EPUB is the open ebook standard, essentially a zipped website with a reading order. Markdown is plain text with lightweight formatting. OFD is China's GB/T 33190 fixed-layout document standard, mandated for tax invoices and government paperwork.

CSV, XML and JSON are the interchange formats data moves between systems in; XLSX and XLS are Excel's own. A conversion here is a structural one — rows and fields have to be mapped onto a different shape, which is why nested JSON does not always flatten cleanly into columns.
