Convert Camera RAW to PNG
PNG is the lossless option for RAW conversion — nothing degrades when the file is re-saved, which matters if the image is heading into an editor rather than onto a website. Expect files several times larger than the JPG equivalent.

Why Convert RAW to PNG?
RAW files cannot be opened by browsers, email clients or most web forms, so they have to become something else before they can be shared or edited outside dedicated photo software. PNG and JPG are the two realistic targets, and they suit different jobs.
Choose PNG when the file will be edited repeatedly — layering, masking, exporting, re-importing. Each JPG save discards a little more detail; PNG never does. Choose JPG when the file is finished and needs to be small.
MiConvert first looks for the full-resolution JPEG your camera already embedded in the file. If it is a real preview rather than a thumbnail, that image is used directly — no re-processing, and the colours match exactly what you saw on the camera screen. When no usable preview exists, the file is demosaiced with LibRaw using the camera's own white balance and output in sRGB. The decoder chain then falls through to LibRaw and RawTherapee for bodies the earlier stages cannot handle.

Frequent Questions
How to convert a RAW file to PNG?
Upload it above and choose PNG. The camera format is detected automatically — NEF, CR3, ARW, RAF and the rest all work the same way.
Is RAW or PNG better?
They are not competing. RAW is a negative: maximum data, needs developing, opens almost nowhere. PNG is a finished image: lossless within its 8 bits per channel, opens everywhere. Keep the RAW as your archive and use PNG as the working copy.
Can you convert a RAW photo?
Yes — that is exactly what a raw converter does. It demosaics the sensor data, applies white balance and a colour profile, and writes a standard image. The only files that resist are ones from cameras newer than every available decoder.
How to make an image not RAW?
Convert it, or change the camera's image quality setting to JPEG so future shots are written as ordinary images. RAW+JPEG gives you both from every frame if you are not sure.
Why is my PNG so much larger than the RAW file?
RAW files are compressed and store one value per photosite. PNG stores three full colour channels for every pixel after demosaicing, and its lossless compression cannot squeeze photographic noise. A 25MB RAW routinely becomes a 50MB+ PNG.
Is there a file size limit?
RAW files are accepted up to 80MB each, and a single file has two minutes to finish decoding before the job is abandoned.
